|University of Florida Mock Trial Team | LITIGATORS|
The UF Undergraduate Mock Trial Team is an organization that instructs members in the procedures and practices of competitive mock trial in order to compete in regional and national tournaments with the American Mock Trial Association. More affectionately known as the LitiGators, the Trial Team is an amazing educational opportunity that offers participating students a unique chance to enrich their collegiate experience. Though it mostly attracts students interested in law school, all students are welcome to try out. A wide variety of different majors are represented on the team. Mock trial helps students improve critical thinking, oral argument, and public speaking, among other intangible skills. Students also develop knowledge of legal practices and courtroom procedure.
This team is an excellent academic experience for students. We seek to match the reputation of the University of Florida as a leading academic university by becoming one of the top mock trial programs in the country. Founded in the 2007 academic year, the UF Undergraduate Mock Trial Team has quickly risen to prominence in the region in just a few short years. Since its inception, the team has gone on to compete at distinguished invitational tournaments, securing first place at the acclaimed Annual Yale Invitational, hosted by Yale University, as well as strong finishes at the Annual Classic City Invitational by the University of Georgia and several others, including the premiere end-of-year tournament hosted by the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) to determine the national champion.
