UF LitiGators Qualify for the National Championship Tournament

The UF LitiGators continued to break records last weekend as two teams qualified for the National Championship Tournament (NCT). Following Regionals, two teams of 12 students each prepared to compete at the Opening Round Championships (ORCS). Both teams practiced intensely for two weeks to formulate case theories, build characters, and write speeches and examinations. Each ORCS consisted of 24 teams, all of which placed in the top quarter at their respective Regional. Only the top six teams at each ORCS qualified for NCT.

One of our teams placed second and the other placed fourth at their respective ORCS, earning both teams a bid to NCT! For the first time in LitiGator history, all of our teams that competed at Regionals and ORCS earned a bid. Not only is this win historic for The LitiGators, it also showcases the intellectual talent of our student members that is consistent with the University of Florida’s ranking as a top 6 public university. LitiGators Lara Soysal, David Egloff, and Sahas Chintakayala won Outstanding Witness awards and Kaitlyn Salyer won an Outstanding Attorney award. The American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) will soon release a new case specifically for NCT. Once the case is released, our two teams will begin preparing for NCT which will be held virtually on April 17-18. Wish us luck!
